Each of our elementary schools has their own school counselor who offers various services to their building throughout the year.
The
elementary counselor assists the students in their buildings to assure a successful school day. The counselor communicates with teachers and parents, working together in the best interest of the child. Resources are available for parents in the areas of parenting skills, mental health programs, and social services.
The counselor provides a range of services to enhance a child's self-esteem and improve skills in dealing with
developmental issues.
Upon request, the counselors assist teachers with classroom presentations which cover many topics. Some students participate in topical group sessions with the counselor, or receive individual counseling as needed. The
counselor is a member of the Student Assistance Team and participates in "Response to Instruction (RtI)" to identify students who are having academic and behavioral difficulties in the classroom.
